Documentation is the operator the others report to. Every deploy, approval, backup, and fix is written to the project's operations record the moment it happens, so the answer to “what changed and who approved it” never has to be reconstructed.
While the others work
Setup configures, Deploy ships, a guardrail asks for sign-off, and each of those becomes a line in the record as it happens. Not a summary written later. The event itself, at its own timestamp, per project.
Documentation that happens during the work is the only kind that survives it.
